We are back with the programme information for the Dancing Histor(y)ies Festival 2025. After an autumn/winter of meetings, gatherings, and workshops to improve the DH Model, we are now preparing the full schedule of workshops and related events. The artistic and institutional partners continue to generate news about their meetings across the various venues where this year’s dance festivals will be held. Now, our next step is to review the updates shared by our local partners about this exciting period we are entering, dedicated to dance and European cultural heritage.
21st and 22nd May- Castel Sant´Angelo (Roma)
From the Port of Ostia Antica, we will travel to Castel Sant’Angelo in the city of Rome, where dance companies will perform indoors, showcasing their acts in these unique halls—spaces and settings that will inspire and move visitors and participants alike.
After the days of workshops and upcoming residencies, our companies will develop a joint program featuring short performances during different sessions and times on May 21 and 22. This will involve a highly complex technical and human effort, marking the beginning of our dance festival season in archaeological sites.

From 5th to 8th June – Archeologic Park in Viminacium (Serbia)
The Viminacium Institute of Archaeology is organizing its 2nd International Contemporary Dance Festival for Dancing Histor(y)ies on June 5, 6, 7, and 8. The festival will feature a local performance along with the four companies involved in the project: 420PEOPLE, Derida Dance Center, Polish Dance e IlDance.
In this evocative setting, contemporary dance, art, and archaeology at Viminacium will come together in five shows, engaging local communities. All the details of the 2024 Festival are available at the link: INFO INSTITUTE OF ARCHAEOLOGY VIMINACIUM
More information about the 2025 edition will be shared soon.
From 4th to 26th July – Festival de Teatro Clásico de Mérida
For the 71st edition, the Mérida International Classical Theatre Festival will organize activities aligned with the values and concepts of the project. Additionally, it will promote micro-events, workshops, and performances from projects selected for the 27th European Youth Greco-Roman Theater Festival, 2025.
“Dialogue” is the word that defines Dancing Histor(y)ies — the dialogue between performing arts and cultural heritage, and the dialogue between institutions and different countries. This demonstrates that culture is a key tool to open doors, cross borders, and foster collaborations. All artistic partners will present their performances in July. You can find all information on the Festival’s website link: INFO MERIDA FESTIVAL
